Diane Foster and I have started to plan workshop in Dallas for North Texas Polymer Clay Guild about a year ago.
We still had a long time to go and it is now over.
And because I am not one for long talks, here is just few words and a lots of pictures in gallery.
But first of all I want to say thank to all of those who supported this workshop.
Thanks to Polyform products for the clay for our workshop – Premo.
Thanks to Nemravka for the useful craft mats.
I would also like to thank the wonderfull ladies that I have met at the workshop; thank you also for nice presents!
But the biggest thanks goes to Diane, who put her faith in me, invited me to USA and took the best care of me.
Big thanks, Diane!
What I was looking forward to the most – kids, bike, and my bed.
What was the most interesting to me – the American flags everywhere, wide roads, the recycling system of putting paper in the same container as the plastic; they should do that in Czech as well. For example, almost 100% of toy packaging is both plastic and paper which are almost impossible to separate, here you can just recycle them at the same time. The same goes for envelopes or other wrappings and packaging. Plus organic waste should be composted, not burned.. that is just my insight.
What I liked the most – Luray caverns
What surprised me the most – sweet roastbeef, long distances, same low houses. And how polite people are to each other.
What surprised me the most after retirning home – that Monicka didn`t miss us that much, that I gained 2 kilos, and that someone cleaned my microwave – Thanks Mom!
What is similar – nature. It surprised me that even in the hot Dallas I didn`t really see any foreign plants such as palms, and no thumbleweed. People, they too have two arms and two legs and their own political and non-political worries.
What was different – food. Everything is fried and everything has beef in it. I really enjoyed it there but I don`t need to see meat for a bit for now.
Top 3 meals – ribs, steaks and shrimp. Meat is considerably cheaper in US than back at home and animals run free range. Best ribs were in the Ale House in Fredericksburg, VA; best steak from Diane; and best shrimp.. I don`t even know. They were good everywhere.
Biggest disappointment – T.G.I Fridays.
